I think you will agree therefore thut any action intended

to focus public opinion on the importance of the

University in connection with our relations with

Committee has reported.

Unfortunately there must in any case be a considerable

delay before the University can be restarted in any

adequate fashion since the staff are very reduced by

death and retirement; the equipment has been almost

entirely destroyed and the buildings themselves so

thoroughly looted that only the bare walls remain.

These are all matters however to which the Committee are

giving immediate consideration.

I can assure you therefore that the importance of the

University is very rully appreciated here and that no time

ill be lost in considering the Committee's report.
